Before moving to the anchor desk, Carl served as the Roving Reporter for WakeUp, a position that highlighted his wide variety of interests and his adventurous side. He went skydiving for the first time, flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, dunked with the Milwaukee Bucks' trampoline team, performed with Cirque du Soleil, danced with the Milwaukee Ballet, rode roller coasters at Six Flags and checked so many more experiences off his bucket list. And the best part? Most of those segments were completed live on-air, showcasing Carl's ability to adapt in the moment and roll with whatever was thrown his way.
Throughout his career, Carl has proven to be an excellent storyteller, routinely producing compelling, powerful feature stories. His work and his writing have received numerous accolades, including Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for a series of reports with Wisconsin sailors onboard a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, a story on a group of veterans using Shakespeare to move past drug addiction and PTSD, a piece on a local musician with one of the largest percussion collections in the world and many more.
Prior to his time in Milwaukee, Carl spent years as a sports anchor and reporter, and still leads that coverage when it's the big story in Wisconsin. He's traveled around the country to cover the biggest teams, stories and events, including the NBA Finals, NFL and MLB playoffs, NCAA Tournaments and bowl games, conference realignment, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, NASCAR races and PGA events.
Outside of work, Carl and his family are avid travelers (his first daughter had a stamp in her passport at three months), with a love of the outdoors, good food, live theater, sporting events, photography and Ultimate Frisbee.
